Hi, my name is Xiaoyi, aka 喜北 in Chinese.
Born and bred in Shanghai, I moved to the U.S. for grad school at 21 and later relocated to New York City, where I spent years living, working and feasting. I moved back to Shanghai at the end of 2015, seeking further challenge and a career in f&b industry.
I contribute to Condé Nast Traveler, ELLE, Modern Weekly (周末画报) and many other publications on a regular base. Recently, I started working with Michelin Guide Shanghai (App & Wechat Publication) as their guest writer, specialized in western cuisine & celebrity chef interviews. For a year and half, I served as the Chief Editor of Penguin Guide( 企鹅吃喝指南 ), an influential local food & drink editorial e-commerce company. I helped building the audience size from 100k to over 1M.
Restaurant Hunter（觅食）, a bilingual food & travel blog I started 3 years ago, with a strong focus on food review (especially fine dining) and my love for wine & cocktails, has evolved into a trustworthy source for foodies living in Shanghai and beyond. Restaurant Hunter currently has more than 100k fans.
I also do PR & Marketing consulting restaurants and f&b related projects.
I have a B.A. in Journalism and an M.S. in New Media Management.
